I'm tired...| Wandering Soup

And for no real reason except that I'm just tired. I've taken this week to just recharge. No pressure on myself to produce, to write, to vlog to do more than be. What's interesting is that in my moments of rest I was trying to figure out if I was sad, mad or depressed anything to explain my feelings of tiredness and there was nothing there except the desire to extend my nap. For that I'm grateful. I'm human and my body just needed rest. I listened. I'm ready to go...next week. As I continue to rest this week. Indulge in long naps and good food. Ingesting words written by friends. I did see clarity in one "thing". I'll share that later after it's grown a little bit more. Have a good weekend

Moving to Mexico! | Wandering Soup

Below is a quick nutshell view for those that don't want to watch the Vlog: Land- Yes! But this is a fairly recent allowance since 1973 that once again changed in 1993. Essentially before Foreigners were allowed to buy property in Mexico, as long as it was located outside of the so-called ‘Restricted Zones’, which include any land within 100 kilometres of foreign borders or within 50 kilometres of the sea, as an attempt to prevent foreign invasion. In 1993 the law changed to allow the purchase of land in restricted areas but only indirectly through a 'Fideicomiso' or trust agreement between the buyer and a Mexican Trust Bank. Business Ownership - Yes and it's one of the easiest countries in

Life in Vietnam | Wandering Soup

People and by people I mean my momma and a few friends, always ask what we do every day, how is life in Vietnam? And when I go over the mundane they quickly tune out, I would too so no blame or pointing the finger. Our life is very similar to life in any developed city. We wake up, scrounge something up for breakfast, homeschool the boy, lunch, work on our various endeavors (businesses, blog, YouTube, writing), dinner and then we binge on Prime or Netflix, mixed in with YouTube TV. Essentially nothing different than you with the exception of the option of more Vietnamese food and if you live in NYC or 'Frisco you may beat my choices. In the middle of all that is the ease of living, something

Moving to Spain!

We are continuing our Move Abroad series and this week we are Moving to Spain! Below is a quick nutshell view for those that don't want to watch the Vlog: Land- Yes! There are no restrictions to purchasing commercial or residential or even just a track of land. Be aware that most home owners in Spain own their homes without a mortgage and you will have to have a financial number which can acquire by visiting a police station with your passport. Do NOT buy a home/property/land sight unseen. Business Ownership - The short answer is yes you can, the long answer is there are layers and the paperwork/bureaucracy may make the process more complicated than it needs to be. Get a lawyer to assist.

Visa Visa Visa! - Part Two | Wandering Soup

Today was a long one, mainly because we overslept and started out two hours later than expected, really three but whose counting? Me. I'm counting! We headed toward Hanoi proper and the Travel/Visa Agency around 1pm instead of the planned 10am and it was hot ya'll. Not as hot as it could be but hot enough to have me sweating and mad about it. We arrived 40 minutes later and $10 lighter on this small back alley like street where we proceeded to sweat some more as we tried to locate the business. I'm telling you all this so as to prepare you for the office. So picture it, Hanoi, 2020 and two black women who should have used more deodorant and possibly sunscreen are standing on what amounts to

Visa, Visa, Visa?!? | Wandering Soup

We will have been in Vietnam 3 months on June 13th so it's time to renew our Tourist Visa for an additional 3 months. When we moved here from Malaysia in March we thought the max, even with Covid-19, that we would be here would be exactly 90 days and were already looking for flights to our next country of choice. Reality hit and that isn't happening as most countries that we are interested in aren't open and the ones that are aren't allowing Americans in. Even Americans from other parts of the world. Well in the middle of searching, vetting and pricing a Travel Agency to actually do the Visa process for us, because in Vietnam you can't do it yourself, we find out that starting this week the

One Year!! | Wandering Soup

Well in 3 days but whose counting. Obviously we are! Because it's been a year of us (Amber, Kwesi and I) traveling thru SE Asia. I promise I won't use to many more exclamation points in this blog...I promise! In celebration of our year long travels we will be posting daily videos on our Youtube channel and blog here. Expect one of our Try videos, continuing our Moving Abroad series and some tips that we learned on our adventures. For those who have been with us on this journey, THANK YOU!! For those who have recently joined us, THANK YOU!! Remember life is short and if
